- Carb Cap. A small piece that is placed on top of the hot nail after the concentrate is dropped in. The Carb Cap helps to regulate airflow when inhaling.
- Torch. To take a dab, you’d need to vaporize the concentrate at an upwards of 550F. Any torch would do for this.
- Dab Tool. All concentrates – whether they’re distillate, diamonds, live resin badder, etc – are sticky, viscous liquids. Dab Tools are probably one of the most important tools to have. How to Take a Dab
To take a dab that is both potent and flavorful, you need to leverage time and how it affects temperature. Take the dab too soon and the temperature is too hot, leading you to one painful and flavorless coughing fit while still maintaining an almost-debilitating-like high. To take the perfect dab, we recommend torching the nail, waiting 45 seconds for it cool then going at it. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Step 1: Turn on your torch and aim the flame directly at the bottom of the nail. You’re going to want to keep the flame going at the nail until it’s red hot. The goal of this are two parts: 1) You need the nail to be hot enough to vaporize the concentrate, and 2) Torching the nail to this extent burns off any residue from the previous session.
- Step 2: Once the nail is hot, turn off the torch. Let the nail cool for about 45 – 60 seconds. If you have a smart home device such as a Google Home or an Alexa, you can tell it to time it for you (Honestly, this is your best home investment if you are a seasoned dabber).
- Step 3: After the timer runs out, apply your concentrate directly to the nail. While you are doing this, you should be inhaling slowly to pull in the vapor through the rest of the rig. Be sure to evenly distribute the concentrate to maximize what remains of the heat.
- Step 4: Now that the concentrate has been added to the nail in full, add the carb cap to the top of the nail and inhale your fullest capacity.
- Step 5: Exhale and enjoy your high!
One pro-tip: Because you are inhaling from the better part of a couple minutes, exhaling the vapor will likely lead to a coughing session. To avoid this, exhale as sharply as you can, making sure you are expelling ALL of the vapor from your lungs. After fully exhaling, take one more sharp inhale of oxygen. This effectively resets your lungs while evening out your high.
