Delta-8 THC Explained
What is Delta-8?
If you’re here, you’ve probably encountered both the famous Delta-9 THC and CBD before, and you’re wondering what Delta-8 THC is and how to differentiate it from the rest. No matter if you’re a newbie or a cannabis connoisseur, we can walk you through the basics of hemp-derived Delta-8 THC and how it’s taking the industry by storm.
Delta-8 THC, Delta-9 THC, and CBD are all cannabinoids, derivatives of the cannabis plant.
- Sleep cycles
- Pain/inflammation signals
- Stress reactions
- Hormonal functions
Every cannabinoid works in different ways. CBD is known primarily for its physical relaxation properties; whereas Delta-9 THC’s psychoactive experience may help to regulate mental activity. Delta-8 THC combines the best of both worlds, providing an energizing buzz while keeping you clearheaded and in control.
What Makes Delta-8 THC Different Than Delta-9?
Hemp-derived Delta-8 THC is very similar to Delta-9 THC — it’s different by only a few atomic bonds. While they have similar effects, there are slight differences regarding what Delta-8 THC is and how it affects you.
Why Specify “Hemp-Derived” Delta-8 THC?
Terminology is important! Hemp and marijuana are both subspecies of the cannabis plant, but only Delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol that’s derived from hemp is legal.
The 2018 Farm Bill made it legal to produce and distribute hemp and its byproducts across the United States. For hemp to be considered legal, it must contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.
In some states, it is still currently illegal to ship hemp-derived Delta-8 THC. Check our shipping policy for more details.
