Choosing the right infused product can be tricky. Between all the different types of extracts, all the different edibles and drinkables – and the varying dosages, choosing the right infused edible can be a tricky experience to navigate.

It’s difficult to understand the differences between them, and even harder to try and figure out which one might be right for you. As always, Eighty Six has your back! We’re extract experts and we want you to be experts, too! Say goodbye to the days of looking confused at the shop, and read on for your first lesson in how to choose the right Delta-9 product for you.

What is Delta-9 THC?

Let’s start with the basics. Delta-9 THC is the most abundant cannabinoid present in cannabis and the second-most abundant cannabinoid in hemp. It has psychoactive properties which primarily revolves around the feeling of getting high. Delta-9 is found naturally in marijuana plants but only in trace amounts in hemp, therefore, to create the commercial volumes of hemp-derived Delta-9 THC you’d find in the Eighty Six Cloud 9 Series, the cannabinoid is synthesized through a process of isomerization via hemp-derived CBD, the most abundant cannabinoid in hemp.

It is also worth noting that Delta-9 THC binds significantly better than Delta-8 THC, meaning, if you’ve only ever tried Delta-8 THC, expect significantly stronger effects.

Choosing the Right Delta-9 Product

When it comes to cannabis infusion, there is no shortage of options. You can find traditional edibles, like brownies, cookies, and rice krispie treats, as well as new-age infusions like drinks and candy.

You can also find Delta-9 vape cartridges, disposable vape pens, and pre-rolls – however, we do need to stress the importance of ingestion method and how the experience would work for you. Inhalable methods hit the quickest, meaning you’ll feel its effects faster. Edibles, can vary. Most edibles need to be digested before you can really feel its effects, and this can take up to two hours.

Absorption through the digestive tract is much different than absorption through the respiratory system (like with vaping or smoking) and the effects can be much stronger over a longer period of time than the latter. If you’re looking for some trippy, delicious, and premium Delta-9 THC infused edibles, look no further than the Melo Dose Series by Eighty Six. Items such as the Milk Chocolate Bar, Caramel Chews, and Rice Crispy Treats, over a myriad of delicious flavors each come with 50MG of hemp-derived Delta-9 THC per pack and are portioned out for you in smaller doses so you can stay in control.

Choosing Your Dosage

The real question you need to ask yourself before you get ready to choose the perfect Delta-9 THC product that’s right for you is this: ‘how do I want to feel?’ Determining how strong you want the effects of your Delta-9 to be will help you determine what dosage might be right for you. Some people just need to take the edge off of their anxiety or agitation without actually getting high. These people should consider micro-dosing.

Micro-dosing is exactly what it sounds like: taking very small amounts of Delta-9 THC so you experience the relieving effects without the often overwhelming feeling of being high.

People looking for mild effects should stay in the 5-15MG range. This lower range still packs a powerful punch, especially if you’re new to cannabis, so we always recommend starting low and slow, taking one small dose at a time until you know how it affects you.

More experienced and adventurous users could experiment with higher dosed edibles between 20 – 50MG. These very high doses are not for the faint of heart; the psychoactive effects of a 50MG dose of Delta-9 THC edibles are going to be very strong, and could easily overwhelm anyone who’s not prepared for the strength of those effects.

As a safety measure, always work your way up to the higher dosages slowly and over a longer period of time. This protects against overwhelming your endocannabinoid system and greening out, something that happens when a person consumes too much cannabis at one time.

Delta-9 THC Blends

Some Delta-9 products are infused using blends. Blends are mixtures usually containing more than one type of cannabinoid. Blends are very popular because they help to provide more dimensional effects, rather than the one-note high that comes from distillate.

Blends are commonly used to infuse products intended to be sleep aids, with several brands claiming their blends are so strong as to induce a ‘blackout’. Blends can be powerful, so be sure to follow the low-and-slow approach to dosing, no matter what kind of cannabis product you are trying.

There you have it folks, everything you need to know to be able to choose the right Delta-9 THC product for you. The most important thing is to understand what Delta-9 is, and how it affects you. Delta-9 possesses very strong psychoactive properties and if you’re new to cannabis, or have only ever used Delta-8, you’re going to be in for one happy treat.

And if you are not comfortable with actually feeling high, you may want to stick to the gentler alternative, Delta-8. If you are sure that Delta-9 is something you’re interested in trying, the next step is to choose the way you’d like to consume it – edibles, vapes, candies, drinks, etc. Once you’ve chosen a product, the last step is choosing an appropriate dosage for your experience level and desired effects.

You also want to keep in mind that some products are made with more than one cannabinoid and these blends often change the overall experience in its own way. If you are looking for Delta-9 THC infused products that actually taste great and packs a potent punch, look no further than the full line of Melo Dose.
