Infused Rice Krispie Treats: Everything You Need to Know

Rice Krispies are one of the OG cannabis edibles, along with the iconic ‘pot brownie,’ these two confectionary treats soared to popularity because they were discreet and easy to make. These days, infused rice crispy treats hit a lot harder than they used to and they’re still one of the most popular edibles on the market trailing only behind gummies.

Rice Crispy Treats are so popular in fact, that Eighty Six developed and released TWO different collections of these things. The first being part of its OG Series featuring Delta-8 THC and the next release being part of the Melo Dose Series featuring a microdose-level of hemp-derived Delta-9 THC. Read on to find out everything you’ve always wanted to know about your soon-to-be favorite edible type.

How Do They Taste?

Back in the day, edibles were almost entirely homemade and pretty danky. But nowadays, commercialized extraction techniques enable brands like Eighty Six to bring you all the trippyness, with none of that grassy taste that so many edibles can’t shake.

Eighty Six only uses the finest extracts in our recipes and formulations, so when you take a bite from the new line of Melo Dose Rice Crispies, you can actually taste the chocolate, marshmallows, or fruity pebbles cereal of each of our three delicious flavors. Be careful though, they’re so good that you might just forget that you’re actually eating an edible – sorry, not sorry.

DIY Cannabis Rice Krispies at Home

Cannabis rice crispy treats are pretty easy to make, and turning run of the mill treats into infused ones are actually pretty easy to do yourself. Commercially, edibles are made by infusing distillate oil into the formulation; but if you are doing it on your own, you are using decarboxylated flower and infusing it into butter. This butter substitutes all or a portion of the butter you would be using in a traditional uninfused rice crispy – butter, marshmallows, and rice krispies cereal.

The recipe is simple – all you need to do is melt and combine the butter and marshmallows, then stir in the cereal. Once everything is mixed together, pour the mixture into a large baking dish and use wax paper to press it down and compress. That’s it! Cut, serve, and get ready for the high!

And we get it, maybe doing all of that work isn’t your vibe. If you’re still in the mood to do it yourself but don’t want to waste a whole bunch of time with the canna-butter, consider trying your hand with distillate infusion instead! Our Delta-8 Syringes are flavored distillate which leverage clarified, salt-free butter as an odorless and tasteless substitute to traditional canna-butter.

With such a simple recipe, it’s hard to mess these up, so don’t be afraid to give this one a try. Remember to keep track of how much distillate you’re using you can accurately measure the approximate dosage per piece.

The Difference Between Delta-8 & Delta-9 Rice Krispies

If all that sounds like a little too much work for you, don’t worry, we’ve got you! Eighty Six offers infused rice krispie treats in either Delta-8 THC or Delta-9 THC in three yummy flavors – Original, Chocolate and Rainbow.

The Delta-9 THC is the same cannabinoid that is found in most infusions, except that Melo Dose exists solely to microdose your edibles with – giving you the power to elevate your way and at your pace.

Best Practices When Trying Edibles

Before we get into what the high is like, here are a few tips to make sure you have an enjoyable experience after eating your edibles:

  1. Eat real food before you eat your edible – this will help your body to metabolize the edibles and can regulate how fast and intense the high feels to you. Treat this similarly to eating something before drinking alcohol.
  2. Go low & slow – when trying out new edibles, it’s always best to start with a low dose – one piece or a portion of the edible at a time. Remember, you can always take more throughout the trip, but you can’t take less!
  3. Don’t mix your edibles with other substances – this just isn’t a very good idea, and you won’t be able to fully immerse yourself in the joyful experience of our edibles – or any edibles if you are also under the influence of something else.
  4. Don’t take edibles and drive – this is an obvious one. Edibles take a while for its effects to be felt – and once it does, the effects are often intense. Remember, these are considered cannabis products and the effects of cannabis impair your ability to drive and operate machinery. Be sure to carve out a decent amount of time to do absolutely nothing before you dose up.

What to Expect from Infused Rice Krispies

Edibles are tricky because they have such different effects on people based on several different factors.

Unlike vaping or smoking flower, eaten THC enters your body through the digestive system, so the experiences are drastically different. For most people, the high from edibles hit slower and lasts longer than vaping, dabbing, or smoking. This enables you to enjoy a creeping, relaxing and euphoric high that lasts much longer than the rush that comes with inhaling cannabinoids.

Eighty Six only uses the highest quality extracts to infuse our edibles, but like we mentioned earlier, our two lines of infused Rice Krispies are very different. If you’ve tried our Delta-8 Rice Krispies, be warned that the new Melo Dose ones might not hit so hard due to the fact that the treats are scored intended to microdose your high.

Let us know which of our edibles are your favorite; and whether you are team Delta-8 or team Delta-9!
