What is Hemp-Derived Delta-9 THC and How Does it Compare to Other Cannabinoids?
You’ve probably already heard of Delta-8 and Delta-10, but Delta-9 THC is the heaviest hitting cannabinoid of the three. In other words, it gets you pretty loaded.
Delta-9 is found in abundance in marijuana plants, which makes it the main hallucinogenic cannabinoid used in edibles and infusions in states where cannabis is legal. Delta-8 is also naturally occurring, but found in much smaller amounts and is only about half as potent as Delta-9. While it’s less potent than Delta-9, Delta-8 has been holding the market down for folks in states where cannabis is still illegal, because it is made from hemp, and legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. Thanks to hemp-derived Delta-9 THC, however, this is all about to change.
How is Hemp-Derived Delta-9 THC Made?
Like we mentioned, most Delta-9 is derived from cannabis plants, which are loaded with terpenes and cannabinoids, and great if you’re a state where marijuana is legal. But if you’re in one of the thirty states where recreational or adult-use cannabis is still illegal, conventional, marijuana-derived Delta-9 THC and all the goodies made with it, are off limits to you, the hemp-derived variety is your best bet.

Hemp-Derived Delta-9 is just as potent and effective as its marijuana-derived counterpart albeit the hemp-derived variety is created through a slightly different process that extracts CBD from hemp. Once the CBD is removed, the remaining solution is called Mother Liquor. This Mother Liquor is the key to creating hemp-derived Delta-9 THC, and because it is produced from hemp, it maintains its federal legality under the Farm Bill.
Is Hemp-Derived Delta-9 THC Legal?
Unlike most of the THC sold in dispensaries, we use hemp-derived Delta-9 THC in our Melo Dose Delta-9 THC Edibles. If you live in a state where cannabis is still illegal, this may pose a big question: is hemp-derived Delta-9 THC legal? The short answer is yes, hemp-derived Delta-9 THC is federally legal. Because we use hemp-derived Delta-9 instead of cannabis-derived Delta-9, our products are fully legal under the 2018 Farm Bill which effectively legalized all hemp-derived products. By this standard, all our produced infused with our new Golden Child, hemp-derived Delta-9 THC are federally legal.
This sounds awesome, but it is important to understand that in the US, each state has the power to create their own laws to govern the accessibility of these products. Unfortunately, some states have started to classify even hemp-derived Delta-9 THC as a controlled substance, and that makes shipping to those states a bit tricky. Right now, there are 17 states we are unable to ship to because hemp-derived Delta-9 has been outlawed, and some of them might surprise you.
